Talent Success Dashboard

Project Overview
My team was tasked with reimagining our HQ software used by internal partners to match lawyers with prospective clients. Research showed that the legacy platform did not effectively meet the users expectations or accommodate their daily workflow. In some cases the platform hindered the users ability to fulfill client needs quickly. This was a very vital part of our business that directly impacted our bottom line.
My Contributions
I acted as the lead UX Designer. I owned the design process from ideation to implementation. I collaborated with the Project Manager to finalize the problem space and project requirements. I conducted user research and synthesis to validate our assumptions. Communicated with Product Leadership and Engineers to get buy off and align stakeholders. I iterated on and finalized UI Design, from wireframing and environment mapping to high fidelity mocks. I worked closely with front-end and back-end Developers, as well as QA to break down designs and prep for implementation. Once implemented I worked with the Data and ML team to track adoption and metrics.

Process
My process is based on the Double Diamond Theory and Lean UX principles. This process is incorporated in all of our design and development projects. I collaborate with the Product Owner to guarantee that feature was correctly prioritize and that we understood the problem we are trying to solve.

I am also a huge believer in the 80/20 rule. Focusing time and energy one solving problems that speak to 80% of our users or designing for the many over the few.
Problem Statement - How might we form.
How might we help Talent Success better understand where they are needed most? How might we make it clear what is most important for them to work on first when they begin their day? How might we give them insight into how they are performing and encourage them to increase overall speed to fulfillment.
Design Notes
  • Current platform was designed for an outdate workflow. The users job is much more complex today.
  • TS has a lot of responsibilities. It is not clear what is most important for them to work on "Now"
  • TS are issued smaller 13-15 inch laptops. They work in a small viewport and the legacy app is not responsive.
  • TS's time is very valuable. User testing must be very efficient and informative.
  • The legacy UI is heavy on data and contains multiple lists.
  • The current Time to Submission (Stage 1 to Stage 2) is nearly 4 days.
User Research
In order to get direct feedback from the end user and hear their pain points firsthand, I conducted a series of remote user interviews with numerous users of the legacy application.

The focus of the research was to validate the problem statement, better understanding the users ideal workflow and gathering feedback for additional features.
Leadership Alignment and Stakeholder Feedback
Once collected, I shared the research findings with the Talent Success Leaders and Managers to get a second perspective of the pain points and brainstorm the ideal solution for all parties.
Prototyping
During this phase of the design process, I created high fidelity mockups in Figma using components from our design system. I reviewed proposed designs and design iterations with the UX Design Team during our weekly design review and critique.
Usability Testing
Once the initial designs were completed, I conducted a round of usability test with internal and external users. These interviews required users to complete a series tasks that would help determine how intuitive and user friendly the new design would be. The data gathered from these tests was used to validate my design decisions and make sure that the new proposed designs solved the problems our user were facing,
Documentation
Once designers were finalized and signed off on, I shifted my focus to create design documentation that would ensure that the hand-off from design to development was seamless. The design documentation clarifies the problem statement, contains user research artifacts and clearly outlines each component used in the design, also where to find live code examples of the component in practice. I believe building shared understanding with the development team and to clearly document your design decisions is crucial in this process.
Learnings
After implementing this redesign, I solicited feedback from the Talent Success team to quantify its success. From these learnings I was about to determine that 88% of the internal users felt the updates made the platform easy to use. 82% of user felt that the updates to the platform made it more clear to understand what their top priorities were for a given day.

Most importantly we were able to decrease the average time. to submission from 3.8 Days to 2.1 Days. Increasing the number of highly qualified talent submitted on an opportunity and opportunities closed/won.
